Lee Ann Womack, Toby Keith lead ACM nominations
Lee Ann Womack and Toby Keith picked up six nods apiece to lead the field of nominees for the 36th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The nominees were announced on Monday morning (2/27) in Los Angeles.
Womack snagged a nomination in the Top Female Vocalist category, and her latest LP, "I Hope You Dance," is nominated in the Album of the Year category. The album's title track is nominated in the Single Record, Song, Vocal Event and Video of the Year categories. Last week, "I Hope You Dance" picked up a Grammy for country song of the year.
Keith, meanwhile, will vie for Top Male Vocalist, Album of the Year for "How Do You Like Me Now?!," Single Record and Song of the Year for the album's title track, Video of the Year for "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This," and Entertainer of the Year.
Five-time ACM winner Faith Hill picked up four nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year for "Let's Make Love," a duet with her husband, Tim McGraw.
Others nominated in the Entertainer of the Year category include Brooks & Dunn, Dixie Chicks and George Strait.
The ACM Awards--known as "Hats"--will be awarded during a May 9 ceremony at Universal Amphitheater near Los Angeles. CBS will televise the three-hour event live.
