Dave Matthews Band's hometown concert to benefit charity

Dave Matthews Band will donate proceeds from the kick-off date of its upcoming U.S. tour in its hometown of Charlottesville, Va., to a band-founded charity organization. As previously reported, that show will feature Neil Young and Crazy Horse in the opening slot.

Tickets to the April 21 show at the University of Virginia’s Scott Stadium will be offered to the general public beginning on Saturday (3/3), but the group has made special arrangements with Ticketmaster and the stadium to offer 30,000 tickets exclusively to Charlottesville-area residents in a special pre-sale that will take place on Friday (3/2). (Ticketmaster is the parent company of LiveDaily.)

Further details about the pre-sale are available at the University of Virginia’s official website.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the Bama Works Foundation, a band-founded organization that distributes funds to select non-profit groups, according to a band press release.

The Scott Stadium gig will be Dave Matthews Band ’s first hometown performance since 1994. Information for those planning to attend the show can be found at Dave Matthews Band’s official website.

Last month, Dave Matthews Band announced dates for the first leg of its U.S. tour in support of “Everyday” (RCA). The album hit stores on Tuesday (2/27).
