Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys Unite For Benefit

Rage Against the Machine, the Beastie Boys and Bad Religion will perform a January 28th concert at New Jersey's Continental Airlines Arena to raise money for the effort to free former journalist and radio personality Mumia Abu-Jamal. Jamal, an outspoken critic of the police, was accused in 1981 of killing a police officer.

Supporters, including members of the bands performing the benefit, believe that Jamal's arrest and trial was simply a facade to allow the political persecution of a high-profile critical voice in the media. Amnesty International has joined the movement to pull Jamal from death row and initiate a new trial.

Proceeds from the show will go to The International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal.
