Billy Idol plans 'Greatest Hits' release, East Coast tour
Eighties icon and occasional actor Billy Idol has scheduled a handful of East Coast performances to promote his forthcoming "Greatest Hits" (EMI) album, according to his official website.
Idol, who appeared in the movie "The Wedding Singer," will visit Atlantic City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Ledyard, Conn., on this leg. All of the shows are with a band, save for the Ledyard gig, during which Idol will perform an acoustic set.
In addition, Idol will tape an episode of VH-1’s "Storytellers" on April 19 and follow that with an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on April 23, according to his website.
The "Greatest Hits" album, due on March 27, features a live version of "Rebel Yell" and a cover of Simple Minds' ‘80s staple "Don’t You (Forget About Me)," which is slated to be the first single. Idol is also working an on album of new material which has not yet been set for release.
