Dave Matthews Band beefs up summer tour schedule
Dave Matthews Band ’s upcoming summer tour of North America--which previously had dates scheduled through mid-July--has been extended into late August. The group has also added additional nights to previously announced stops due to strong ticket sales.
Tickets for the new batch of dates--which begin on July 17 and run through Aug. 28--are scheduled to go on sale on Saturday, April 7, according to the group's publicist. The dates include a two-night stand in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., a three-night run at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash., and the outing’s first batch of Canadian stops.
Tickets to a number of Dave Matthews Band ’s previously announced dates went on sale on March 10 and posted quick sell-outs. Those sell-outs--and near sell-outs in other markets--have resulted in the addition of new shows in Woodlands, Texas; San Francisco; Detroit; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Camden, N.J.; and Chicago. Tickets for many of the additional dates are already on sale, and others are set to go on sale this month. Details appear in the itinerary below.
Members of Warehouse, Dave Matthews Band’s official fanclub, can register for a ticketing lottery that will give them a chance to purchase tickets to the new batch of July and August dates before the public on-sale. Registration takes place between 12:01 a.m. on Saturday (3/17) and 11:59 a.m. on Monday, March 26, according to a band announcement.
According to Dave Matthews Band’s official website, CNN World Beat will air a short Dave Matthews Band segment at midnight Eastern Time on Saturday (3/17), and again at both 4:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday (3/18).
The band’s website also contains details about a contest to win a trip for two to the opening night of the group’s North American tour on April 21 in Charlottesville, Va. That show will feature special guest Neil Young and Crazy Horse in the opening slot.
Dave Matthews Band is readying for a tour in support of its new album, “Everyday” (MCA). The disc debuted at No. 1 last week, remains in the top spot this week, and has sold over 1 million copies since its Feb. 27 release.
