Vans Warped Tour begins to take shape
Preliminary plans for this years annual Vans Warped Tour have been revealed, including the tours initial routing and a list of featured artists that includes Weezer , 311 , Rancid , Pennywise and the Rollins Band.
The outing is set to begin on June 22 in Phoenix, and dates are scheduled though August 12.
Other artists featured on this years roster include: AFI, Alien Ant Farm, the Ataris, Big Wig, Distillers, Dub Pistols, Esham, Fear, Fenix TX, Good Charlotte, Grand Theft Audio, Guttermouth, H2O, Jepetto, the Julianna Theory, Kill Your Idols, Kool Keith, Less Than Jake, Madcap, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes (an all-covers side project featuring Foo Fighters' Chris Shiflett and NOFX's Fat Mike), Midtown, the Misfits, Morgan Heritage, No Motiv, River City Rebels, Saves the Day, Sugarcult, Userfriendly, and the Vandals.
As it has in previous years, this years Warped Tour will showcase extreme sports as well as music. An initial list of athletes scheduled to appear features skater Steve Caballero, BMX rider Rick Thorne, and Moto X rider Jeremy "Twitch" Steinberg.
The tour will also feature a new attraction dubbed Incredibly Strange Wrestling, which tour-owner LAUNCH Media describes as a marriage of rock music and wrestling born in the clubs of San Francisco.
Venues and additional acts and attractions will be announced in the next two weeks, according to a tour spokesperson.
Last years Warped tour featured headlining act Green Day, as well as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Long Beach Dub Allstars and others. The outing also saw one-off appearances on select dates by acts such as No Doubt, Lit and this years returning act, Weezer.
