Rapper ODB Arrested In New York, Charged With Crack Cocaine Possession

Rapper ODB, whose real name is Russell Jones, was arrested early Monday morning in the Brooklyn area of New York after a police search of his vehicle turned up three glassines of crack cocaine, according to local media reports. The arrest comes just weeks after the rapper's court appearance in Los Angeles on charges of wearing body armor after a felony conviction.

According to police, Monday's incident began when officers noticed the rapper was double-parked in a Range Rover with no license plates. The vehicle was empty when officers first noticed it, but the rapper returned while police were there. Jones was asked to produce his license and registration, but had neither.

The rapper originally gave police the name Robert Diggs when asked who he was, but later admitted to his real identity. When police ran a routine check on his name, they found he had a suspended license and a warrant for unpaid child support. At that point, they began a search of his vehicle, turning up the drug evidence.

At press time, the rapper was due to be arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court later Monday evening.

The rapper currently faces felony charges in three separate trials in Los Angeles -- two for terrorist threats and one for wearing body armor.
