Red Hot Chili Peppers Hit The Road For New Album

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have emerged from a lengthy hiatus with a new album and the beginnings of a major tour. An initial itinerary released through the band's official web site places them in a mix of radio festivals and high school performances before launching a string of European dates earmarked for international broadcast.

The tour, arranged around the release of the band's latest Warner Brothers effort Californication, begins with a group of shows open only to high school students, set up to promote tolerance issues.

Ticketing arrangements for the ''raising tolerance'' shows are available only through partnered radio stations in that show's market.

Students must visit the radio station's web site and submit written ideas for promoting respect and compassion in school in light of increasing violent incidents at US high schools. Ticket winners will be chosen from the submissions.

The remainder of the US itinerary places the band in various radio station festivals before embarking on a two-week European tour, which will feature live broadcasts to neighboring countries on most tour stops.

The band then returns to the US, where they will be one of the featured acts at this year's Woodstock festival in late July.
