Rufus Wainwright offers a preview of 'Poses'
Canadian singer-pianist Rufus Wainwright is providing a peek of his forthcoming album, "Poses" (DreamWorks), with a three-week tour that is slated to open in early May.
Wainwright, the son of folk singer Loudon Wainwright III, has tapped Vancouvers Tegan and Sara to open the shows. The 20-year-old twin sisters released their debut, "This Business of Art" (Vapor), in August.
"Poses," due to hit stores on June 5, was produced by Pierre Marchand (who also turned the knobs for Wainwrights self-titled debut), Alex Gifford (of the electronic duo Propellerheads), Ethan Johns (Emmylou Harris, Whiskeytown) and contemporary composer Damian le Gassick. Guest performers included bassist Melissa auf Der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins), singer-songwriter Teddy Thompson, eels drummer Butch and Wainwrights sister, Martha Wainwright.
On "Poses," Wainwright covers his fathers song "One Man Guy."
