Blues Traveler maps a new road to Red Rocks
The new batch of tour dates marks the group’s first full-fledged tour since its swing through the U.S. last October and November. The band played a handful of warm-up dates in Nevada in early March, and also performed one mid-month date in Florida.
The group's seven-year string of July 4 appearances at Red Rocks was interrupted in 1999 because frontman John Popper was suffering from health problems. The band resumed the tradition in 2000.
Blues Traveler's new album, “Bridge” (A&M/Interscope)--which was tentatively set for release first in March and then in April--is now due in stores on May 8, according to the label. It is the group’s sixth studio album, and is the follow up to 1997’s platinum release “Straight on Till Morning.”
The group’s most commercially successful album to date is 1994’s “Four,” which featured the Top 10 hit “Run-Around.” The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and has been certified for 6 million copies shipped by the Recording Industry Association of America.
