Nelly precedes new St. Lunatics release with April tour
Rapper Nelly --whose solo debut album is certified six-times platinum--will head out on a 10-date college tour as he awaits the June 5 release of the debut album by his side project, St. Lunatics.
The tour begins on April 17 at State University of New York in Geneseo, and is scheduled to run through the end of the month.
Nelly's debut "Country Grammar," which scored hits with its title track and with the follow-up, "E.I.," sits at No. 15 on Billboard’s 200 album chart.
The title of the forthcoming St. Lunatics’ album, "Free City," is apparently a reference to Nelly’s brother, Lavell "City Spud" Webb, who is serving time in jail. The band hasn’t released details about Webb’s criminal record, however.
Detroit rapper Alley Life, who performs during the Detroit Music Awards on April 6 at Detroit's State Theater, will support Nelly's tour. He releases his self-titled debut for FarmClub.com/Interscope on May 15.
