Dido, Travis set June launch for North American tour
Dido has lined up a major North American tour of arenas and amphitheaters in support of her 2-year-old, three-times-platinum solo debut "No Angel" (Arista). The jaunt, which features Travis as the opening act, begins on June 10 in Vancouver, B.C.
Dido, who doubles as the singer for the band Faithless, released "No Angel" in June 1999, but the record remained relatively obscure until Eminem decided to sample her song "Thank You" in his hit "Stan." This week, the album sits at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.
Before the Dido tour begins, Travis will embark on a series of shows in the U.K. and Europe, including a headlining spot at Dublin Casatle as part of the Heineken Green Energy Festival May 6.
Due on June 12, Travis' next album, "The Invisible Band," was produced by Nigel Godrich, who earned a Grammy nomination for his work with Travis and Radiohead. The album's first single, "Sing" will feature a video directed by the team of Dayton-Ferris (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins).
