Ricky Martin Sets U.S. Tour Dates

Ricky Martin will begin his first arena tour in Miami, where much of the recording of his current chart-topping album took place. A 17-date U.S. itinerary was released this week by Martin's management company, fitting snugly into a busy worldwide appearance schedule.

Tickets for several stops on the tour are tentatively set for sale on July 10th, with another round of shows on sale the 17th, according to an MTV report.

Martin's self-titled debut album has lodged itself near the top of the Billboard pop album chart and currently resides at the #2 position after six weeks of release. Album sales have been propelled by the massive video and radio airplay focused on the lead-off single Livin' La Vida Loca, co-written and co-produced by Desmond Child.

No opening acts have yet been named for the outing, which will visit the new Staples Center in Los Angeles and log two nights at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Martin's U.S. tour is book-ended by tours of Europe and South America, though according to his management company's itinerary, another three weeks have been blocked out for U.S. promotion in late January and early February of 2000.
