Tour plans in the works for John Mellencamp

John Mellencamp , who is currently plotting a 2001 U.S. tour, has revealed the dates of three August and September concerts. He is also scheduled to perform in Las Vegas later this month as part of the fourth annual Tiger Woods Foundation benefit concert.

Tickets for all three of Mellencamp’s newly announced headlining dates--a Chicago-area stop and a two-night stand in his home state of Indiana--go on sale on Saturday (4/7), according to SFX Entertainment.

On April 28, Mellencamp will perform at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino as part of Tiger Jam IV. The event is being held to raise funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation and other charities based in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, according to a press release from event organizers. In addition to a performance from Mellencamp, the benefit will also feature rock act Third Eye Blind.

More information about Tiger Jam IV can be found at Woods’ official website.

Mellencamp is currently working on a new album, though no release date has been set. His most recent release was his self-titled 1998 album, his first for Columbia Records.

Last summer, Mellencamp surprised fans by performing several unannounced, free concerts in city parks and squares throughout the U.S. while on vacation with his family.

More 2001 tour dates will be announced soon, according to Mellencamp’s management.
