Stabbing Westward readies for new album, tour
Stabbing Westward will introduce fans to material from its forthcoming album during a headlining club tour that is set to kick off on April 30 in Florida. The group’s self-titled follow-up to 1998’s “Darkest Days” is due in stores on May 22.
“So Far Away,” the first single from Stabbing Westward’s new disc, hit radio stations on April 2, and debuted at No. 45 on trade publication Radio & Records’ Active Rock chart, according to Koch Records. The group recently shot a video for “So Far Away” in Los Angeles with director Shawn M. Foster, who has also shot videos for the Deftones, Spineshank and Taproot.
Stabbing Westward’s most commercially successful album to date is its 1996 sophomore effort “Whither Blister Burn & Peel” (Columbia), which features the hit singles “Shame” and “What Do I Have to Do?” The album was gold certified that same year.
“Darkest Days” followed and was certified gold as well, but Columbia dropped the group last year. Next month’s “Stabbing Westward” marks the band’s first release for Koch Records.
