Run-DMC hits the comeback trail

Run-DMC, in a bid to generate additional momentum behind its just-released comeback album, will open a month-long string of tour dates on April 12 in Detroit.

Tickets to the group's performances in Orlando, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Anaheim, Hollywood and Las Vegas are on sale now. Several of the university and college shows are closed to the public, however.

Two of the gigs are festival concerts. The May 12 performance at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Center is part of radio station X107.5's Big Concert with Blink-182, Fear Factory, Monster Magnet, Nonpoint, New Found Glory, Papa Roach, Systematic, Taproot and Static-X. Tickets are available through tickets.com.

In Atlanta, during the first weekend in May, Run-DMC will be one of nearly 100 bands--ranging from Bob Dylan to Live--performing during the Music Midtown Festival.

Run-DMC released "Crown Royal," its first new album since 1993's "Down with the King," earlier this month on Arista. The CD features collaborations with Kid Rock, Jermaine Dupree, Sugar Ray, Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins and others.
