Tool preps for European tour with four U.S. dates
On the heels of a successful tour with his side project A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan is heading out with his main gig Tool to play four U.S. dates before its European jaunt.
The band will perform shows in Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Detroit. Tickets go on sale on May 5, according to Tool's official website. The opening band in the U.S. has not been named, though Cortizone opens all of Tool’s headlining dates in Europe.
"Lateralus" (Volcano), Tool’s long-awaited follow-up to 1996’s "Aenima" (Zoo), is set to be released on May 15. Fans of the band can visit Tool’s website to hear the first single, "Schism," on May 1-6; it goes to radio on May 6.
Last December, Tool released "Salival," a limited-edition box set that featured covers of Led Zeppelin’s "No Quarter" and Peach’s "You Lied." (Tool bassist Justin Chancellor plays in Peach.) The band also released "Salival" as a VHS or DVD with Tool’s four videos.
A Perfect Circle released its debut "Mer De Noms" (Virgin) in 2000. The platinum-selling album, which sits at 156 on the Billboard 200 album chart, spawned the hit "Judith."
