From Spin.com's interview with Sonic Youth 's Kim Gordon:

Spin: You were also a very influential band. You were a huge influence on Nirvana, which was the punk band that has become the most mainstream and successful. What do you think about that?

K: Well, there were a lot of bands around in the '80s that influenced people... Like Meat Puppets and Minutemen and Black Flag, and you know, I've heard people in Rolling Stone [magazine] talk about how the '80s was such a dead period in rock or something. But there was so much going on in the independent music scene, you know, amazing records and singles and things like that.

Spin: Would [Sonic Youth's] Thurston [Moore] maybe want to talk for a couple of minutes?

K: Uh, he really doesn't talk to Spin. You know, Spin really doesn't cover us anymore.
