Dave Matthews Band fine-tunes tour plans
update: Dave Matthews Band , which is due to kick off its tour in support of the album “Everyday” this weekend, has made a few minor changes to its tour itinerary. The group also has announced support acts for most of its dates, and has unveiled plans to hold a canned-food drive at a number of shows.
Added to the group’s routing is a May 4 stop in Memphis at the Beale Street Music Festival, which will precede the group’s previously announced May 5 stop in New Orleans for that city’s annual Jazz and Heritage Festival.
The group’s June roster has seen the addition of a third night at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on June 13. The band already has posted sell-outs for its June 11 and 12 shows at the venue.
Also added is a July 20 performance in Sunrise, Fla., which bumps the previously planned July 20 date in West Palm Beach up to July 21, according to the group’s official website.
Support acts for the group’s tour have been locked in, and will appear as follows: Terrance Simien from April 28-May 2, Soulive from May 8-15, Angelique Kidjo from May 18-June 20 and July 6-15, and Junior Brown from July 20-27.
In addition to Angelique Kidjo, Dave Matthews Band ’s May 26 and 27 Las Vegas shows will feature guest appearances by Widespread Panic and Macy Gray, according to a band announcement.
The group is asking fans to bring canned goods to the Feed the Children truck that will be in the parking lot at the following tour stops: April 21 in Charlottesville, Va.; May 22 in Los Angeles; May 26 and 27 in Las Vegas; June 11-13 in East Rutherford, N.J.; July 15 in Irving, Texas; and July 21 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Dave Matthews Band’s tour is set to begin its tour this Saturday (4/21) with a sold-out show in its hometown of Charlottesville, Va. The concert will feature a performance by Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
