Ringo Starr returns with his latest All-Starr band
Ringo Starr and the new incarnation of his All-Starr Band are heading out on a summer tour that kicks off on July 26 outside of Toronto. The run includes an Aug. 3 appearance on NBC's "The Today Show."
The former Beatle has assembled an All Starr band of Sheila E., Greg Lake from Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Roger Hodgson from Supertramp, Ian Hunter and Howard Jones. The jaunt--sponsored by the real estate firm Century 21--includes stops in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
According to his spokeswoman, the set list will include "Octopus's Garden" and "Don’t Pass Me By"--two songs that Starr wrote while in the Beatles--as well as hits from the individual All-Starrs: "Lucky Man" (Emerson, Lake and Palmer), "Breakfast in America," "Goodbye Stranger" and "Logical Song" (Supertramp), "All the Young Dudes" and "Cleveland Rocks" (Ian Hunter), "Things Can Only Get Better" and "No One Is to Blame" (Howard Jones) and "Glamorous Life" (Sheila E.).
The tour will coincide with the release of the "All-Starr Band Anthology So Far" box set and DVD. Starr's spokeswoman said that the label that will release the collection will be determined within the next few days.
