Promotional blitz accompanies release of new Destiny’s Child album

An MTV-sponsored tour, a pay-per-view concert and in-store appearances are a part of the multimedia blitz surrounding the release of Destiny's Child 's forthcoming record “Survivor," due in stores on Tuesday (5/1).

On Tuesday, Destiny's Child--Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams--will announce the itinerary for the first-ever TRL Tour, named for the MTV request show, and featuring Nelly, Eve, Jessica Simpson, Dream and 3LW, according to published reports.

Also on Tuesday, the group will sign autographs at 6 p.m. at Coconuts record store in New York's Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

A Destiny's Child pay-per-view concert will air on May 5 on cable and satellite services, according to the group's official website. The show was taped during the group's performance at the Reliant Astrodome during RodeoHouston earlier this year.

Finally, Knowles will make her acting debut in the made-for-MTV hip-hop version of "Carmen," airing on May 8.

"Survivor" (Columbia) is the follow-up to the seven-times-platinum Destiny's Child album "The Writing's on the Wall," and includes a cover of the Bee Gees' "Emotion," as well as "Independent Women Part 1" from the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack. The title track from "Survivor" is currently the No. 1 single in the U.K. and is at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
