Radiohead maps first leg of North American tour
Radiohead has lined up the first handful of dates of what is expected to become a full-blown North American outing. The itinerary begins with a June 18 Texas performance that will follow the early June release of the group’s new album.
Seven mid- to late June dates have been lined up, all of which are set in the western U.S. and Canada. The group then plans to take a month off--with the exception of a July 7 festival performance in Oxford, England--before returning for a string of East Coast and Midwest dates, according to Capitol Records.
“Amnesiac,” Radiohead ’s second album in less than a year, is due out in the U.S. on June 5. The album will surface on May 21 in the U.K. and Canada, according to Capitol.
Streaming-audio samples of three of the album’s tracks and a streaming version of the band’s video for the new track “Pyramid Song” are available at Capitol’s Radiohead website.
“Kid A,” Radiohead’s previous album, was released last October, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The band performed just two North American concerts in support of the disc, one in Los Angeles and the other in Toronto.
