Radiohead's world tour plans come into focus
update: Radiohead has lined up a world tour in support of its forthcoming release, “Amnesiac.” The tour gets underway in late May and includes two North American legs, touching down in the United States and Canada first in June and then again in August.
The first batch of North American dates will be preceded by a half-dozen European performances in late May and early June. The group plans to take July off--with the exception of a July 7 festival performance in Oxford, England--before returning to North America in early August.
Details of the group’s second North American leg appear in the itinerary below, but are subject to change, according to the group’s publicist.
September and October dates in Ireland and Japan are also planned.
“Amnesiac,” Radiohead ’s second album in less than a year, is due out in the United States on June 5. The album will surface on May 21 in the U.K. and Canada, according to Capitol.
Streaming-audio samples of three of the album’s tracks and a streaming version of the video for the new track “Pyramid Song” are available at Capitol’s Radiohead website.
“Kid A,” Radiohead’s previous album, was released last October, and debuted at No. 1 on the weekly album chart. The band performed just three North American concerts in support of the disc, with shows last fall in New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto.
