Everclear tops bill for second leg of Honda-backed tour
Everclear is heading up the second leg of the Honda Civic Tour 2001, replacing Blink-182 in the headlining slot. Everclear's stint atop the bill kicks off on June 29 at the Web Theater in Phoenix.
American Hi-Fi and the Mayfield Four are slated as openers on Everclear's short, 10-date tour.
Everclear customized three 2001 Civic Coupes to mimic the cover of its latest CD "Songs from an American Movie, Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude" (Capitol). The cars will be on display at each venue that the tour visits.
Two songs from the Washington state trio--"Rock Star" and the radio mix of "Out of My Depth"--will be included on a forthcoming reissue of "Songs from An American Movie, Vol. One: Learning How to Smile," according to Everclear's official website. That album originally peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 in July 2000.
American Hi-Fi’s self-titled debut (Island), which sits at No. 81 on The Billboard 200 album chart this week, spawned the minor hit "Flavor of the Weak" earlier this year. The Mayfield Four releases its new record, "Second Skin" (Epic), on June 19.
Southern California pop-punkers Blink-182 played clubs in nine cities in 11 days to kick off the inaugural Honda Civic Tour, which is named for the car built by the tour's sponsor.
