3 Doors Down hits the summer amphitheater circuit
Rock band 3 Doors Down is planning to spend July touring amphitheaters and arenas with support acts Lifehouse and Tantric .
The tour kicks off on July 3 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and so far it extends through July 22, when the three bands perform as part of Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyo., according to 3 Doors Down's official website.
An early September show at DTE Energy Music Theatre, formerly Pine Knob Music Theatre, in Clarkston, Mich., is also on the band's itinerary, but opening acts haven't been announced.
From late May through early July, 3 Doors Down will play a series of radio shows and European gigs.
In other news, 3 Doors Down is rewriting its song "Be Like That" for the movie "American Pie 2," which traces the lives of the original film's characters when they return home for the summer after their freshman year of college. The group also recorded an acoustic rendition of the song, which will be released to radio.
The band’s debut album, "The Better Life" (Universal), has gone four-times platinum and spawned the No. 1 radio hits "Duck and Run," "Kryptonite" and "Loser." In April, 3 Doors Down won the 2001 Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Group, besting Baha Men and Papa Roach.
