Charts: Destiny's Child takes over top spot with 'Survivor'

Female artists stake their claims at the top of the album chart this week, with the latest from Destiny’s Child easily snagging the No. 1 spot from Janet Jackson ’s “All For You,” and new releases from Stevie Nicks and Eden’s Crush debuting in the Top 10.

Destiny Child’s “Survivor” (Columbia), the R&B trio’s third album, sold just over 660,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to industry sources. The album’s title track has been at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 Airplay chart for several weeks.

The demand for “Survivor” easily bested second-week sales of Janet Jackson’s “All For Love,” which still moved a sizeable 310,000 copies, and which winds up at No. 2 this week. The album debuted at No. 1 last week after selling just over 605,000 copies in its first week out.

Remaining unmoved by the pop-diva activity at the top of the chart is “NOW That’s What I Call Music! Vol. 6” (Epic), which stays put at No. 3 for a second week. The compilation album features previously released hits from Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, Britney Spears, Destiny's Child , Shaggy, U2, Lenny Kravitz and others.

Tim McGraw’s “Set This Circus Down” (Curb) dips two spots to No. 4 following its No. 2 debut last week. The country singer’s latest features the hit “Grown Men Don’t Cry,” which is up two spots from No. 5 last week to No. 3 on trade publication Radio & Records’ latest country airplay chart.

Veteran singer Stevie Nicks’ “Trouble in Shangri-La” (Reprise), the Fleetwood Mac alumnus’ first album of new material in nearly seven years, hops on to the chart at No. 5 this week. Nicks’ single, “Planets of the Universe,” turns up at No. 11 on Radio & Records’ latest adult alternative airplay chart, a three-spot jump from last week. ("Bootylicious," a track from Destiny's Child's "Survivor," prominently features a guitar riff from Nicks' song "Edge of Seventeen.")

Also debuting in the Top 10 is Eden’s Crush’s “Popstars” (London-Sire/143 Records). The album--the female quintet’s first--shares its title with the WB network’s “reality” program about the group. “Get Over It,” the first single from “Popstars,” recently peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Sales chart.

All down this week are Tupac Shakur’s “Until the End of Time” (Interscope) from No. 4 to No. 7, Shaggy’s “Hotshot” (MCA) from No. 6 to No. 8 and Uncle Kracker’s “Double Wide” (Atlantic) from No. 7 to No. 9.

Closing up the Top 10 is Case’s “Open Letter” (Def Jam), which debuted at No. 5 last week.

Making debuts further down the chart are Point of Grace’s “Free to Fly” (Epic) at No. 20, JT Money’s “Blood Sweat and Years” (Priority) at No. 48 and Montgomery Gentry’s “Carrying On” (Columbia) at No. 49.
