Lineup announced, dates set for annual B.B. King festival tour
B.B. King will follow up his current headlining tour with more than two months of dates at the helm of his annual blues festival, which is scheduled to begin in early August. Known for the past nine years as the B.B. King Blues Festival, the event has been re-christened the Lloyd's Blues Music Festival.
In addition to King, the outing will feature returning artists Buddy Guy and Tommy Castro, as well as John Hiatt . The event was renamed for its new title sponsor, Lloyd's barbecue sauce.
King kicked off his current U.S. tour in late-April, and is scheduled to head to Europe in late-June for a string of festival dates. He will then return to the states for the Aug. 4 kick-off of his 10th annual blues festival jaunt.
The legendary guitarist’s most recent release is last year’s “Riding with the King,” an album that features both King and Eric Clapton performing classic blues covers. The album won the Grammy Award for the Best Contemporary Blues Album at this year’s awards ceremony.
On June 4, King is set to record his first Christmas album, according to his management. The finished result will be released later this year.
