Widespread Panic backs album with June-July tour

Widespread Panic has announced a seven-week U.S. summer tour around the release of its forthcoming CD "Don’t Tell the Band."

The 33-date run kicks off on June 13 in San Diego and includes three-night engagements in Los Angeles, Morrison, Colo., New York and Pelham, Ala.

"Don’t Tell the Band" (Sanctuary), Widespread Panic's first studio recording since 1999’s "'Til the Medicine Takes" (Capricorn), hits stores on June 19. Widespread Panic worked with longtime producer John Keane and engineer Doug Trantow, whose credits include Tracy Chapman, Sugar Ray and Limp Bizkit. The album includes a cover of fIREHOSE’s "Sometimes."

The initial run of "Don’t Tell the Band" will come with a second CD that features 30 minutes of live music recorded last year in Athens, Ga.
