Billy Idol schedules short U.S. tour
Eighties rocker Billy Idol has lined up a series of dates in the West and Midwest in support of his "Greatest Hits" album. The tour kicks off on June 15 in Las Vegas.
Idol's June 23 performance in Bonner Springs, Kan., will be part of the "Red, White and Boom 2001" radio show for 93.3 FM. Evan and Jaron, Eve 6, Jewel, Lionel Ritchie, 9 Days, Dream, Uncle Kracker, Debelah Morgan, Edens Crush, Willa Ford, 3LW and ATC are also on the bill.
This is a busy time for Idol, who was involved in a minor car crash earlier this year. He is pushing "Greatest Hits" (Capitol), which features a cover of Simple Minds "Dont You (Forget About Me)," and he has tentative plans to release a new album in the winter.
On April 19, Idol taped an episode of VH1 "Storytellers," on which he plays acoustically with longtime guitarist Steve Stevens. The episode airs on June 22 and on June 24.
