New Releases, June 5: Radiohead, the Cult, INXS
plus: ‘Tomb Raider’ and ‘Fast & Furious’ soundtracks, Trisha Yearwood , more.
Radiohead follows last fall’s critically acclaimed “Kid A” with this week’s “Amnesiac.” The new album features the group’s latest single “I Might Be Wrong,” which is at No. 27 on both Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks singles chart and trade publication Radio & Records’ alternative airplay chart.
Unlike its support of “Kid A” (Capitol), behind which the group did not tour, Radiohead is backing “Amnesiac” with a full-blown outing that has already commenced in Europe. The group is scheduled to touch down in the U.S. later this month.

The Cult is back with “Beyond Good and Evil” (Atlantic), the group’s first collection of new material in seven years. “Rise,” the new album’s first single, has made its way up to No. 4 on Billboard’s latest Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, up from No. 6 last week and No. 9 two weeks back.
A streaming audio version of “Rise” is currently available at the Cult’s official website.
“Beyond Good and Evil” was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue), who also produced the Cult’s self-titled 1994 release and 1989’s “Sonic Temple.”
Fronted by founding members Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar), and featuring longtime drummer Matt Sorum and new bassist Billy Morrison, the Cult is currently hitting the radio-festival and club circuits in preparation for a headlining jaunt that kicks off later this month.
Almost four years after the death of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, Rhino Records delivers this week’s “Shine Like It Does (1979-1997): The INXS Anthology.” In addition to encompassing the group’s hits--including the Top 5 singles "What You Need," "Need You Tonight" (which reached #1), "Devil Inside," "New Sensation," and "Never Tear Us Apart"--the 2-CD set also includes rare tracks, B-sides and alternate mixes.
The CD booklet contains liner notes by Rolling Stone editor David Fricke, new interviews, and an annotated track-by-track commentary by the band.
Elektra’s new “Tomb Raider” soundtrack--companion to the forthcoming big-screen version of the popular video game--features both new material and remixes of previously released songs from heavy hitters such as U2, the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, OutKast and Missy Elliot. The album also includes the new Nine Inch Nails track “Deep,” which is up ten spots to No. 21 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks singles chart since surfacing at No. 31 two weeks back.
The soundtrack for the upcoming film “Fast & Furious” surfaces this week, and features tracks from Ja Rule, R. Kelly, Scarface. A new version of Limp Bizkit’s hit single “Rollin’”--dubbed the “Urban Assault Mix”--featuring DMX, Redman and Method Man is also included.
Streaming audio samples of the album's 17 tracks can be found at Def Jam’s official website.
Trisha Yearwood returns this week with “Inside Out” (MCA Nashville), the follow up to last year’s “Real Live Woman.” The country singer’s latest features the track “I Would’ve Loved You Anyway,” which currently sits at No. 25 on Radio & Records’ country airplay chart.
