Prince cancels concerts

Prince , who is scheduled to kick off a North American tour in St. Paul, Minn., on Friday (6/15), has canceled the tour’s Canadian dates, according to several sources.

A press release from event promoter House of Blues Concerts indicates that Prince’s previously announced July 7 stop in Toronto has been “postponed.” No make-up date has been announced.

Also, Canada’s Winnipeg Sun newspaper reports that Prince’s additional July stops in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal (at the Montreal Jazz Festival), Edmonton and Vancouver have also been canceled.

The Winnipeg Sun report quotes a spokesperson for the canceled Winnipeg event as saying that Prince is “postponing the bulk of his concert tour until the fall.”

No reason for the postponement and cancellations was given in either the H.O.B. press release or the newspaper report.

A spokesperson for Prince could not be reached for comment, and no information regarding whether the musician’s previously announced U.S. dates would be affected was available at press time.
