Amy Ray [ tickets ] and the Butchies, Dar Williams and Jill Sobule [ tickets ] are among the 40 acts scheduled to appear at the annual Michigan Womyn’s Festival Aug. 7-12 in Michigan.

According to the festival's official website, "womyn" are described as "gender outlaws, either because their sexual orientation (lesbian, bisexual, polyamorous, etc.) or their gender presentation (butch, bearded, androgynous, femme--and every combination or permutation in between)."

Last year, it stated, more than 6,000 "womyn" attended the gathering. The website doesn’t specify the event's location other than to say that the closest airport is in Grand Rapids, Mich., but in past years, the festival has been held about 100 miles north of Grand Rapids, near Crystal Village, in Oceania County.

The Michigan Womyn’s Festival offers up to three stages of entertainment. Besides music, the 650-acre area will house workshops, a film festival and 150 artisans’ crafts. The Lois Lane Run features basketball, football and volleyball. The ticket prices, which includes all activities as well as three meals a day, range from $190-$380, depending on the number of days the patron would like to attend. Children’s tickets are $45-$75.

Wednesday, Aug. 8:
Sister Spit’s Ramblin’ Roadshow featuring Sini Anderson, Michelle Tea, Ida Acton, Rene Van and Shar Rednour on the acoustic stage; Opening celebration, Jill Sobule and Ubaka Hill and Shapeshifters on the night stage.

Thursday, Aug. 9:
Round Robin, Sonia and Ladeez in the House on day stage; Alix Olson and Urban Bush Women in "Hair Stories" on the acoustic stage; and Isle of Klezbos and Laura Love on the night stage.

Friday, Aug. 10:
Half Looking, Zoe Lewis and Mz. Fishe and the New Groove on the day stage; Lucie Blue Tremblay, LAVA in "Timberline" and Evelyn Harris on the acoustic stage; Aleah Long and Friends, Dar Williams and Le Tigre on the night stage.

Saturday, Aug. 11:
Bitch and Animal, Velvet Janes and Stefone and Rites of Passage on the day stage; Mimi Fox, Ibu Ayan and Cris Williamson on the acoustic stage; Zrazy, Nedra Johnson and Amy Ray and the Butchies on the night stage.

Sunday, Aug. 12:
Comedy Afternoon with Sabrina Matthews, Nora Burns and Topp Twins on the day stage; Drumsong Orchestra with Ubaka Hill, One World Inspirational Choir with Aleah Long, Candlelight Concert with Ruth Barrett on the acoustic stage.
