Stevie Ray Vaughan Reissues To Feature Rare, Live Recordings

Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen report: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's new Epic/Legacy CD, The Real Deal: Greatest Hits 2, will be released in late March along with four digitally re-mastered classic album reissues with expanded editions, including music, liner notes and photos.

The 16-track The Real Deal includes, in order, Love Struck Baby (from Texas Flood), Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up On Live (from Soul to Soul), Scuttle Buttin' (from Can't Stand the Weather), Wall of Denial (from In Step), Lenny (Texas Flood), Superstition (live) (from Live Alive), Empty Arms (from The Sky is Crying), Rivera Paradise (In Step), Look at Little Sister (Soul to Soul), Willie the Wimp (live) (Live Alive), Pipeline (with Dick Dale) (from Back to the Beach soundtrack), Shake For Me (live) (from In the Beginning), Leave My Girl Alone (live) (Epic Records promotional-only disc), Telephone Song (from Family Style). Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) (from Couldn't Stand The Weather), and Life By The Drop (The Sky Is Crying). The CD's first run will be a limited edition digi pack featuring a reflective foil embossed SRV logo as seen on Vaughan's guitar.

Each of the four reissued albums includes never before released songs and a track titled, ''SRV Speaks,'' wherein Stevie Ray Vaughan talks about a topic relating to the previously unreleased tracks. Added to Vaughan's 1983 debut LP Texas Flood, is the studio track Tin Pan Alley and live versions of Testify, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Wham — the first two studio versions are on Texas Flood.

Vaughan's second album, Can't Stand The Weather, contains four more studio tracks: Hide Away, Look At Little Sister, Give Me Back My Wig and Come On, but no live selections.

Vaughan's third album, 1985's Soul To Soul, has two more studio tracks: Little Wing/Third Stone From the Sun, and Slip Slidin' Slim but no live songs.

Vaughan's fifth album (fourth studio), In Step, has no studio tracks but four live songs: The House is Rockin, Let Me Love Your Baby, Texas Flood and Life Without You — the latter two are studio songs are not on the album. (Vaughan's fourth LP was Live Alive).

In addition, a non-jewel box promotional ''Real Deal Sampler'' for the series includes Shake 'N Bake, a previously unissued instrumental from the Soul To Soul sessions that is only available on the sampler, a hard to find collectible.
