Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook plots solo outing
Squeeze co-founder Glenn Tilbrook will kick off a solo acoustic tour of the U.S. next month, and will follow it with a September run through Australia and New Zealand. Tilbrook is touring in support of “The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook,” an album set for release in the U.S. in August.
“The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook” surfaced in England on Tilbrook's Quixotic Records last month, and will be available in the U.S. on Aug. 28, according to the label. The album is the musician’s first full-length solo effort.
In addition to penning several of the songs on his own, Tilbrook’s new album features tracks that he co-wrote with singers-songwriters Aimee Mann, Ron Sexsmith, Chris Baide and Kim Stockwood, according to Quixotic.
Tilbrook is best known for his work in Squeeze, the group he co-founded in the mid-‘70s with Chris Difford. The group broke through in the U.S. with its hit “Tempted” from the 1981 album “East Side Story.”
Squeeze’s most recent studio effort is 1998’s “Domino,” which was followed by 1999’s “Live at Royal Albert Hall.”
In addition to his work in Squeeze and his recent solo endeavor, Tilbrook has also worked with and appeared on albums by Mark Knopfler and Elvis Costello.
Tilbrook’s U.S. outing, which gets underway in late July, will be preceded by a July 15 festival appearance in London.
