Tool, King Crimson join forces for brief August tour
Tool will team with prog-rock legends King Crimson for a six-city, nine-show tour of the western U.S. The two-week outing opens on Aug. 3 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver.
According to Tool's official website, the band will share the bill with King Crimson for two nights each in Seattle, Berkeley, Calif., and Los Angeles, and will play one night in Portland, Ore., and San Diego.
Tool--which is currently finishing a European tour--is expected to embark on a larger U.S. tour in September. In July, the band will follow a July 1 appearance at Edgefest in Toronto with a tour play dates in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The band's latest album, "Lateralus" (Volcano) entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 last month, and more than 1.1 million copies of the album have sold to date, according to industry sources.
King Crimson's line-up--which has changed several times over the years--currently includes Robert Fripp (guitar) Adrian Belew (guitar/vocals), Trey Gunn (touch guitar) and Pat Mastelotto (percussion).
