Juanes, Alejandro Sanz top Latin Grammy nominees

Columbian rock artist Juanes picked up six nominations to lead the field of nominees for the 2nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards, which will be presented on Sept. 11 in Miami. Spanish pop star Alejandro Sanz was a close second, picking up five nods.

Picking up three nominations apiece were Aterciopelados, Gilberto Gil, Fito Paez, Gustavo Santaolalla and Caetano Veloso. Christina Aguilera, Vicente Amigo, Plácido Domingo, Paulina Rubio, and Chucho Valdés each earned two nominations.

Juanes garnered nominations for Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Rock Solo Album, Record of the Year and Best Rock Song. His video for "Fijate Bien" was also nominated for Best Music Video.

Sanz's nominations included Record of the Year and Song of the Year, Best Pop Male Vocal Album and Album of the Year. His video for "Cuando Nadie Me Ve" also picked up a nomination for Best Music Video.

The Latin Grammy Awards show will be broadcast live by CBS and carried on radio via the Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation worldwide.
