Fatboy Slim [ tickets ]'s video "Weapon of Choice," starring actor Christopher Walken, received nine nominations for the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, topping the list of nominees. The ceremony will take place on Sept. 6 at New York's Lincoln Center.

The second batch of top nominees, with six nominations each, includes Christina Aguilera [ tickets ], Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink for "Lady Marmalade;" Missy Elliott for "Get Ur Freak On;" and 'NSync for "Pop."

Eminem [ tickets ] and Dido ("Stan"), U2 [ tickets ] ("Beautiful Day" and "Elevation Remix") and Destiny's Child ("Survivor") tied with five nominations. Janet Jackson collected four for "All for You."

U2 and chart-topper Alicia Keys are slated to perform at the 18th annual show. Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon.

Approximately 500 people--a group consisting of viewers, record label representatives, music journalists and video producers--selected the nominees.
