Megadeth to roll through the U.S. this fall
update: Megadeth , which teased fans with several acoustic performances earlier this year, is poised to plug in for an extensive tour of the U.S. in early September.
Tickets for most of the group’s upcoming concert dates go on sale this month, with the first batch of on-sales slated for Thursday, Friday and Saturday (8/2-8/4), according to the band’s official website. Details appear below.
The group is determining the setlist for each of its upcoming tour stops via a contest being held at its official website. There, fans in each tour market can select 24 songs from a list of over 30. Winning submissions will be selected in each market and rewarded with prizes that include a grand prize of being the group’s “roadie for a day.”
Earlier this year, Megadeth embarked on a brief promotional tour of U.S. clubs to launch its latest album, “The World Needs a Hero” (Sanctuary). Access to the radio-sponsored acoustic appearances was primarily restricted to contest winners.
“The World Needs a Hero” debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 album chart following its May 15 release. The album’s first single, “Moto Psycho,” peaked at No. 22 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
The group plans to release the song “Dread and the Fugitive Mind” as its next single, according to its official website. An unreleased version of the cut is available at the site.
Megadeth just wrapped up a European festival run, and kicks off an Australian jaunt on Friday night (8/4).
