Three Tenors To Return To US; Pavarotti No-Show In Hamilton
The Three Tenors will make a return visit to the US for a single show at Detroit's Tiger Stadium on July 17th. The spectacularly popular trio has released three live albums of their landmark concerts since first joining for a World Cup event in 1990. The Ford Motors-sponsored event will be part of Detroit's 300th anniversary celebration.
In Hamilton, ONT on Saturday night, Tenors member Luciano Pavarotti made a Mick Jagger-esque exit to a scheduled concert, citing a cold for not appearing on stage after 14,000 concertgoers, some paying up to $350 a ticket, had already been seated.
The Toronto Star reports that a local doctor diagnosed Pavarotti with chest congestion, leading to the postponement. As with the recent Stones postponements in San Jose, many fans had flown in from across the globe for the show. The concert has been rescheduled to July 11th, days before the Three Tenors show in Detroit.
Ticket information for the Three Tenors concert in Detroit is available through the Michigan Opera Theatre at 248-358-6770.
