Tori Amos maps two-month theater tour
Tori Amos will embark on a 30-city North American tour in late September. The outing will feature Amos alone at the keyboard, marking her first unaccompanied performances since 1994.
The two-month tour will coincide with the release of Amos' new album, "Strange Little Girls," which is due in stores on Sept. 18. According to her official website, a limited number of tickets will be available via an Internet pre-sale to fans who register for Amos' email newsletter.
According to an Atlantic Records press release, computer hackers "invaded the artist's official Internet fan site, toriamos.com, liberating the itinerary from the site's data base before the concerts were scheduled to be announced publicly." The dates began appearing on fan sites last weekend.
The 12 songs on "Strange Little Girls" are all covers of songs written by men and are performed from the perspective of 13 female characters (one song features twins).
Among the songs Amos covers are Eminem's "'97 Bonnie & Clyde," the Velvet Underground's "New Age," Tom Waits' "Time," and Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence." The title track is a 1982 song by the Stranglers.
