David Lee Roth plots more tour stops

August 16, 2001 04:22 PM
David Lee Roth ’s sporadic series of summer concert dates has been augmented with a handful of August shows that will begin on Saturday night (8/18) in Nebraska.

The former Van Halen frontman is also scheduled to perform on Labor Day weekend at Seattle’s 31st annual Bumbershoot festival.

Roth kicked off the summer outing in June, and has played five dates. The singer’s set-list is comprised almost entirely of early Van Halen material, and his current band lineup features Bart Walsh, the former guitarist for the popular L.A.-area Van Halen cover band the Atomic Punks.

More dates are expected, according to a spokesperson.

Earlier this year, Roth addressed widespread speculation about a potential reunion with Van Halen by announcing that he briefly collaborated with the group last year, but had not been in touch with them since.

Roth left Van Halen in 1985 after recording six multi-platinum albums with the group. The singer’s most recent solo album is 1998’s “DLR Band” (Wawazat).
