A prosecutor in Oakland County, Mich., has filed charges of criminal sexual conduct against Marilyn Manson , stemming from an incident during a July 30 concert in Clarkston, according to published reports.

According to Sonicnet.com, Manson allegedly "[rubbed] his own genital area," spit on the security guard, then "wrapped his legs around the guard and rubbed his genital area on Keasler's head and neck."

The report quotes the prosecutor as saying that the guard was not a willing participant.

Los Angeles' Key Club is hosting Dead Kennedys on Sept. 26. According to a spokesperson for the club, the lineup will include original members Klaus Flouride, D.H. Peligro and East Bay Ray, and a singer who is not original frontman Jello Biafra. The spokesperson said that, according to the information he had, the new singer also performs with a Colorado ska band, but the name he gave us is nothing like any of the names of the members of this ska band.

From an MP3.com press release regarding its recent deal with Affiliated Foods Midwest Cooperative, a cooperative of independent grocery stores:

"Affiliated has chosen our technology as the platform on which they will build out their business music and in-store advertising capabilities."

"Business music." What a perfect, overdue term for that long-standing genre.

In karaoke news:

Fabrice Morvan, formerly of Milli Vanilli , will be hosting Malibu Showerpalooza, "a traveling karaoke show that features a singing booth resembling a shower complete with bathtub and showerhead visuals, complete with steam/soap bubble effects."

Click here if you're too young too remember the whole Milli Vanilli brouhaha.

• GetMusic has announced "the first-ever recordable karaoke application on the Internet. GetMusic Karaoke lets music fans record their own vocal renditions of popular songs as well as listen to and rate other performances from the comfort of home."

Philosophical question: if a sober person sings along to the music of "Baby Got Back," and no audience is there to hear it, is it still karaoke?
