Perry Farrell to mount solo DJ tour

Originally expected to be touring with Jane's Addiction at this time, singer Perry Farrell is instead hitting the road for a brief series of club dates that will showcase his DJ skills. The outing kicks off on Friday night (8/24), and includes a half-dozen stops.

Earlier this year, Farrell announced tentative plans to launch a Jane's Addiction-led package tour--dubbed the Jubilee Festival--in mid-August. That outing is still expected to take place, but no dates have been confirmed, according to Farrell's publicist.

Farrell’s first solo album, "Song Yet to Be Sung" (Virgin), surfaced last month, as did Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro's "Trust No One" (Capitol). Navarro recently announced plans for an imminent solo outing of his own.

Best known for his vocal work with Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros, Farrell has, in recent years, built a bit of a name for himself as a club DJ. That influence is evidenced on his recent solo debut, which largely comprises Farrell singing over electronic beats and sound effects.
