Sara Evans leads CMA Awards nominees
Sara Evans , Brooks & Dunn , Alan Jackson and the soundtrack to the motion picture "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" led the field of nominees for the 35th Annual CMA Awards, which were revealed at a press conference in Nashville on Tuesday (8/28).
With nominations in five categories--Female Vocalist, Single, Album, Song and Music Video of the Year--Sara Evans topped the pack. Evans has had three previous CMA nominations, but no wins.
Brooks & Dunn--who were on hand at the press conference to announce the nominees--were nominated for Entertainer, Vocal Duo, Single and Album of the Year. Alan Jackson was also nominated for four awards: Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album and Music Video of the Year.
The "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack was nominated in four categories including Album of the Year, Single of the Year (for the Soggy Bottom Boys' "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow") and two in the Vocal Event of the Year category: "Didn't Leave Nobody but the Baby," featuring Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch and "I'll Fly Away" with Krauss and Welch.
Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw received three nominations each.
The awards ceremony, to be hosted by Vince Gill, will be broadcast live from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House on CBS on Nov. 7. Winners will be voted on by the nearly 6,000 professional members of the Country Music Association.
