Cracker opens tour with 'Traveling Apothecary' dates
Cracker embarks on a month-long tour over the Labor Day weekend, starting with two performances that include former members of Cracker frontman David Lowery's former band, Camper Van Beethoven .
The tour kicks off on Sept. 1 in Turin, N.Y., and wraps up on Sept. 29 with a performance at the Queen City Music Fest in Charlotte, N.C.
Cracker will be joined by former CVB members Victor Krummenacher and Jonathan Segel on Sept. 1 and 2 as part of an occasional set of shows dubbed "The Traveling Apothecary Show." The revue-style shows--which debuted last year--feature Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven songs, as well as material from the solo projects of the tour's participants. When Cracker and the ex-Campers played in Petaluma, Calif., last year, the ex-Campers played on several Cracker songs and vice-versa.
On Sept. 15, Lowery performs an acoustic set as part of the CMJ Music Marathon music festival in New York. The rest of the shows listed on the itinerary below are Cracker proper performances, according to its official website.
Earlier this year, Cracker wrapped up work on a new record that has yet to be scheduled for release. To appease fans until the album's release, Cracker has hidden a rough mix of a new song called "One Fine Day" somewhere on its website. There are also downloadable versions of alternate takes, rough mixes and B-sides posted elsewhere on the site.
Cracker's last release was 2000's "Garage D'Or" (Virgin), a greatest hits collection.
