Jay-Z adds dates, earmarks a dollar per ticket for relief effort
Jay-Z , who postponed the initial pair of dates on his current tour due to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has rescheduled those performances, and has added a few new dates to his itinerary. The rapper has also arranged for some of the proceeds from his current Blueprint Lounge tour to go toward the relief effort.
Two of the tour’s originally scheduled stops--Sept. 14 in Columbus, Ohio, and Sept. 16 in Cleveland--were postponed, and have now been rescheduled for Oct. 9 and 10, respectively, according his label. Stops in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles have also been added to the October roster.
One dollar from each ticket sold to Jay-Z's tour will be donated to various relief organizations, according to a press release. Also, Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Wear clothing line is designing a shirt, the proceeds from which will also be donated to the relief effort.
"I feel that we all have to support each other in such trying times," Jay-Z said in a statement. "I'm happy that I am in a position to help. This tour is now not just in support of my new album, but I hope it helps people come together and celebrate the freedom we have in the United States."
The Blueprint Lounge tour, which takes its name from Jay-Z’s recently released album “The Blueprint,” also features support from his Roc-A-Fella Records labelmates Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and others.
“The Blueprint” was released on Sept. 5 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album features the single “Izzo (H.O.V.A.), which currently sits at No. 7 on Billboard’s latest Hot Rap Singles chart. A streaming sample of the song's music video can be viewed at Roc-A-Fella Records' official website.
