Update: Rolling Stones Postpone Second San Jose Show
The Rolling Stones have postponed a second show at the San Jose Arena due to frontman Mick Jagger's continuing battle with the flu. The postponement for the Saturday, January 30th show was announced several hours before showtime by the venue. A spokesperson at the venue on Saturday said that no new dates for the pair of postponed shows (1/29 - 1/30) had yet been determined, but ticketholders were now welcome to refund their tickets.
Stones fans from across the US and around the world have flocked to the Bay Area to take in the cluster of shows the band has booked there. Depending on the advance notice available on the rescheduled shows, many of those fans may find it impossible to re-book travel arrangements. Refunds can be made at the point of purchase, though once a new show date is set, a cutoff date for refunds may be imposed by the promoter to ensure that returned tickets have an opportunity for resale.
The Rolling Stones have effectively ground their much-anticipated tour of arenas to a halt just two shows into their 33-date North American itinerary. At this point, all eyes turn to Denver, CO, where the band hopes to pick up the tour on Tuesday, February 2nd.
A case of laryngitis dogged Jagger at the beginning of the Stones' 1998 US tour last January, similarly forcing the postponement of dates and prompting the band to route a return visit to the Northeast at the end of the tour to make up the shows.
