Savage Garden [ tickets ], an Australian pop duo that has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide over the last four years, has split. According to published reports, Darren Haynes will pursue a solo career and Daniel Jones will leave the music business.

Rapper Erick Sermon [ tickets ], who was hospitalized for more than a week after falling from a third-story window on Sept. 25, plans to explain what happened to him in about two weeks, his label told MTV.com. Sermon reportedly is resting in his Long Island, N.Y., home, recuperating from injuries which include several broken bones. It was first reported that Sermon suffered his injuries in a car accident; police later said that his injuries resulted from a fall.

Virgin Records will release an 18-track best-of Smashing Pumpkins [ tickets ] package dubbed "Rotten Apples" on Nov. 20. The album will include two previously unavailable tracks. A limited edition second CD titled "Judas O," which contains B-sides and rarities, will also be released.

Electronic music group Tangerine Dream [ tickets ] has postponed its tour, which was to get underway later this month, to mid January. "In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, the band was faced with several problems that could not be solved within the short period of time left until the beginning of the tour--the most severe being that, due to heightened security measures and controls, the band would not have been able to obtain work permits in time," the group's camp explained in a statement.

"God Bless America," billed as "a collection of songs of hope, freedom and inspiration" will be released on Oct. 16. The album includes a new studio version of the title track by Celine Dion [ tickets ], which was recorded during the Sept. 21 "America: A Tribute to Heroes" telethon. "A substantial portion" of the proceeds from the album's sales will benefit the Twin Towers Fund, which provides assistance to New York's uniformed services who were victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist tracks.
