Two Trans-Siberian Orchestra companies to embark on holiday tours
Trans-Siberian Orchestra has mapped out its annual holiday tour, using two companies to hit 54 U.S. cities this winter.
The tours kick off on Nov. 23 in Akron, Ohio, and Minneapolis. Multiple-night stands are scheduled in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Detroit. Details are listed in the itinerary below.
The shows center on Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" (Atlantic). With a story and lyrics written by composer Paul O’Neill, the album tells the story of "Heaven's youngest angel, sent to Earth by God, to bring back to Him ‘the one thing that represents everything good that has been done in the name of this day.' His journey culminates in helping bring a runaway child home for Christmas," according to a press release.
The collective's tour has become the No. 5 largest-grossing holiday event in the U.S., behind the Radio City Christmas Show with the Rockettes, Nutcracker Ballet, "A Christmas Carol" and Mannheim Steamroller, the missive said.
On Nov. 6, the orchestra is releasing on VHS and DVD "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve," its holiday TV special co-starring Ossie Davis, Jewel and Michael Crawford.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra was founded in 1996 by producer-writer-guitarist O’Neill, who has produced albums by Aerosmith and Savatage.
