Garth Brooks to release 'Scarecrow' on Nov. 13

Capitol Records will release "Scarecrow," Garth Brooks ' first studio album in four years, on Nov. 13. The album's first single, "Wrapped Up in You," was debuted to the public at a Tuesday morning (10/9) press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville.

"At the end of last year I made a commitment to Capitol that I would try to bring them one more album," Brooks said in a statement. "This is the result of that effort, a real labor of love, that I'm proud to hold up next to all of our previous releases."

Brooks' longtime producer Allen Reynolds turned the knobs on the new album, which includes a duet with George Jones titled "Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?)." It also includes "When You Come Back to Me Again," from the movie "Frequency."

A limited edition of the CD will feature a different cover and package. The limited editions can be ordered in advance through retailers.

Brooks has also signed a national endorsement deal with Dr. Pepper, his first national endorsement. He will appear in a Dr. Pepper campaign that begins in November and continues through 2002.

In addition, the new Brooks album is being promoted through America Online. An AOL feature includes details about the new album, a stream of "Wrapped Up in You," a video library, exclusive photos, and more. AOL will host a live chat with Brooks on Nov. 13.

A little less than a year ago, Brooks held a press conference to announce that he was "retiring," and that he would no longer tour. However, the country music superstar said that he planned to release one more album, and he left the door open to other musical and non-musical projects.
